Ganden to Samye Trek

Ganden to Samye trek programme we will explore great palaces, monasteries and temples in Tibet before driving to Gyanden. After visiting Ganden Monastery we start our 4 days trek over the Tibetan mountains to Samye, the first and holiest monastery of Tibet. The trek through highland yak pastures and over Shugu La pass (5200m/17000ft) takes us to a sacred mountain where many great Buddhist saints and teachers meditated, including Guru Padmasambhava, the founder of Tibetan Buddhism.

Ganden to Samye Trek, after visiting Sayme we drive through central Tibet via Yamdrok Tso, to the historical towns of Gyantse and Shigatse and further by 4-WD jeeps to the famous Rongbuk Monastery and day-hike to North Everest Base camp from where the views of the North Face of Mt. Everest is awesome. After exploring North Everest Base Camp and surrounding area we will follow the 2-day drive over the beautiful Tibetan landscape and get to Kathmandu

The breathtaking views of the snow-capped peaks as well as the views of Tibetan countryside will make the journey an unforgettable one. Witness Buddhist prayer ceremonies, visit the homes of local Tibetans and observe religious customs to help understand the Tibetan religion and life.

Day 03 Arrive in Lhasa (3660 m) - 45 minutes drive from Gonggar airport to Lhasa – 93 km
Day 04 Sightseeing in Lhasa - (Sera Monastery, Norbulingka, Jokhang Temple and Barkhor Square)
Day 05 Sightseeing in Lhasa - ( Drepung Monastery and Potala Palace)
Day 06 Drive from Lhasa to Ganden (4500m) 45 km – Ganden Monastery
Day 07 At Ganden for acclimatization
Day 08 Trek to Yama Do
Day 09 Trek to Tsotup Chu Valley across 5250 meter Shug La.
Day 10 Trek to Herder's Camp
Day 11 Trek to Wango – (Yamalung Hermitage)
Day 12 Trek to Samye & drive to Tsedang (before leaving Samye visit to Samye Monastery)
Day 13 Drive to Gyantse via Yamdrok lake/hotel
Day 14 Drive to Shigatse/hotel
Day 15 Drive to Xegar/hotel
Day 16 Drive to Rongbuk/hotel
Day 17 Excursion to Base Camp and back to Rongbuk/hotel
Day 18 Drive to Nylam/Guesthouse
Day 19 Drive to Friendship Bridge and to Dhulikhel/hotel
Day 20 Day at Leisure/shopping day/evening farewell dinner/hotel
Day 21 Drive to airport for return journey
